Joan Kehoe, Chairperson of Kilmacud Crokes joins us this week for Dublin's Sporting Communities. Kilmacud Crokes is one of Dublin and Ireland’s largest GAA clubs. It is based on the South Side of Dublin in Stillorgan.

Parc De Burca in Glenalbyn is the home of the club. The club has c. 4,800 members from the Stillorgan area and surrounding parishes and caters for the GAA codes of Men’s and Ladies Football, Hurling and Camogie.

Aisling Faye from Cuala GAA joins us this week on Dublin's Sporting Communities. Cuala is based in south County Dublin nestling between the sea and the N11.

Headquartered in Dalkey, the club serves a wide community from Blackrock through Dun Laoghaire to Shankill, it draws its support from almost 1,000 households and currently has 1,600 active members placing it among the larger clubs in the county.

It plays home matches in Dalkey, Shankill, Meadowvale and Thomastown – participating in over 70 competitions accommodating all ages from Adults to Juvenile.

The club was founded in 1967 by Michael Flaherty and Father CF Lee, then a curate in Rathgar parish. In return for financial assistance from the Parish, the name of a local street was to be used in the club name.

Dave Williamson, President of Glenanne Hockey Club joins Reggie Corrigan on this week's episode. Glenanne HC is a mixed hockey club based in St Marks Community School, Tallaght, Dublin 24, catering for all age groups and abilities.

They currently field one Mens team in the Irish Hockey League and also field three Women's teams and three Men's teams in Leinster. The club also has a vibrant and growing youth section.

Dwayne Edgar of Run Club joins Reggie Corrigan to tell us all about Run Club.

Run Club was set up in August 2020 and started with 30 runners to now having over 220 active members. Run Club is not your ordinary running club, it is community based with their main focus to get people active, whilst having fun. It doesn't matter how fast you can run, they just want all members to finish what they started!

It is the 13th-oldest rugby club in Ireland and 7th-oldest senior rugby club in the history of the IRFU.

De La Salle Palmerston Rugby Club is well known for its extremely active and successful underage section and normally on a Sunday morning some four hundred boys and girls from age under 7 to under 19 turn out from September to April.

Episode 10 - Corinthian Hockey Club

Reggie is joined in studio by Paul Stapleton, President of Corinthian Hockey Club to tell us all about the club. Corinthian Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at Saint Columba's College, Dublin, Ireland. In 2018–19 they became founder members of the new Division 2 in both the Men's Irish Hockey League and the Women's Irish Hockey League.

The club's senior men also play in the Men's Irish Senior Cup while the senior women also play in the Women's Irish Senior Cup. Reserve teams play in the Men's Irish Junior Cup and the Women's Irish Junior Cup. Corinthian won the 2012 Men's Irish Junior Cup, defeating Cookstown in the final.

The club dates back (in one guise or another) to 1920. Founded in 1920 the club was firstly named the Richmond Asylum Hurling Club.

Adamstown Cricket Club was started in 2009 by residents of Adamstown in partnership with the local educate together school to cater for the cricket interest in the community as well as to grow the game among the youth of Adamstown. The club’s founding members saw cricket as a uniting force in bringing the diverse Adamstown community together and committed to developing cricket facility in the community, encourage youth involvement and provide affordable cricket to its members.

G Force Fitness founder George McCabe discusses how he went from being shot in the knees to forming one of Ireland’s most successful community gyms.

The Drimnagh-based gym currently has over 800 members on a daily basis and recently introduced a free running club with 250 participants.

Founder George McCabe never planned to set up a gym – or live past the age of 22. Now, with a large membership from St. John’s Bosco Community Centre, George does not have any goals on when he will die!

“My ambition now is to wake up every day and keep doing what I’m doing,” he said.

He chatted with Reggie Corrigan as part of our Dublin's Sporting Communities series on Sunshine 106.8

Jonathon Grennell from Killester Basketball Club joins us to tell us all about the club that was founded in 1967, in the car park of Killester school. Killester Basketball Club is now a diverse club with approximately 500 playing members, ranging in age from 5 years to many decades older!

We train and play in 4 gyms, St. David’s in Artane, The Donahies Community School, St. Fintan’s HS in Sutton and Ardscoil Rís on Griffith Avenue. Our Super League teams play their home matches in the IWA gym in Clontarf on Saturday nights from September to April, where there is spectator seating for all club members to relax, enjoy the games and where families make a social event of the nights, with all the kids able to hang out and watch their beloved game in the company of their team mates.

Founded in 1904, Railway Union Sports Club is home to 7 sport clubs for all ages. Derek Collins, President of the Tennis Club joins us on-air to tell us about the Club.

The Railway and Steam Packet Athletic and Social Union (aka Railway Union Sports Club), is a multi-sports club situated in the leafy suburb of Sandymount, not far from Dublin City centre. Bowls, cricket, hockey, rugby, soccer, bridge and tennis are all played at our club at various levels and age grades.

Club facilities include:

A full size 6-rink bowling green
A top class floodlit Astro Hockey pitch
6 grass and 5 floodlit all-weather tennis courts
