100 Year old Grenade Found In Dublin Canal

Harold's Cross bridge in Dublin was closed off for a number of hours last night after an explosive device, dating back to the War of Independence, was found.

Gardaí were alerted after the grenade was taken from the water in the Grand Canal and the Army Bomb Disposal Team was requested.
They arrived at around 8:30pm and identified it as a mills type grenade, dating back to 100 years ago.

It was made safe and the bomb disposal unit left the scene at around 10:30 last night.
