Army Rangers Begin Assisting Evacuation Of Irish At Kabul Airport

Irish army rangers and senior diplomats have arrived in Afghanistan to begin evacuating Irish citizens.

They'll work with their international counterparts at Kabul airport over the coming days to get 36 people out on flights.
The government's private jet has also been sent to the region to aid efforts, however it's understood it won't enter Afghan airspace.

Meanwhile the US President's confirmed he's sticking to his deadline to pull American troops out of Afghanistan on the August 31st deadline, despite calls from the international community for an extension.
The Taliban said there would be consequences if evacuation efforts continue into September.
