Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Begin Irish Trip

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have touched down at Dublin Airport for their first official trip to Ireland.

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been officially welcomed to Ireland by President Higgins.

The royal couple signed the visitor book in Áras an Uachtaráin, before ringing the Peace Bell.

This evening's engagements end with a visit to the Guinness Storehouse to pull a pint.

Rolling road closures will be in effect until 9pm tonight.

The next two days will be more relaxed, with a visit to a farm in Meath, a youth project in Kildare, and a walkabout in Galway.

William and Kate are coming at a crucial time post Brexit, with the trip described as an opportunity to build a lasting friendship with the Irish people.
