Scaled Back Outdoor Gatherings May Return In September

The government has left the door open for some gigs and cultural events to go ahead later this year.

Cinemas may also be allowed to re-open in August with social distancing.

Organisers of major festivals like Electric Picnic have been hit due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Event Industry Ireland says half of events companies have temporarily laid off staff and a fifth can only stay afloat for another 1 to 3 months.

Its survey has also found over half have seen their earnings plunge by more than 90 percent since COVID-19 restrictions were introduced in March.
