Despite warnings from the National Public Health Emergency Team and appeals from Government to stick with the Covid-19 recommendations, there were a number of breaches identified over the weekend.
During a 24 hour period from Saturday to Sunday morning, Garda identified a number of breaches by licensed premises in Limerick, Cork, Carlow and Meath, including ‘wet’ pubs open for normal business, some gastro-pubs failing to comply with regulations, with no register in place, tables being occupied by people drinking without food being served, and in some cases, face masks not being worn by staff.
In Cork Gardai received reports of a gathering of over 250 cars at Little Island, on Saturday night.
They discovered around 800 people, including men, women and some children gathered and socialising with no social distancing or mask wearing in place.
They were asked to disperse and all complied, however one man in his late 20s was arrested for drink offences and charged.
