Government Supports Sinn Fein Motion On Israeli-Palestinian Dispute

The Government supported a Sinn Fein motion which recognises Israeli settlements on Palestinian land as 'de-facto annexation'.

Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney told the Dáil last night that Ireland is the first EU country to support such an action, while the bill also includes criticism of Palestinian militant group Hamas.
More than 200 people were killed in recent clashes in the Middle East - the majority of the fatalities were Palestinians.
