Irish Rail Add 750 Carriages To DART Network Across Dublin Area

The first 95 electrically-powered carriages, that will be more spacious and accessible, will enter service in the Greater Dublin area from 2025.

Billed as the largest and most sustainable fleet in Irish public transport history – these 750 new DART carriages will come on stream over the next decade under DART plus.

They’ll be completely open inside and make it easier for wheelchairs and buggies.

Jim Meade, Iarnród Éireann’s Chief Executive, says they’ll be able to extend DART lines before overhead electricity lines are added;

There will be dedicated family and bike storage areas on board – as well as charging facilities for phones and even e-bikes and scooters.
