Minister Apologises In Row Over Direct Provision Centre In Kerry

The Justice Minister's apologised for the way a direct provision centre in Co Kerry was opened.

At least 25 asylum-seekers in the Skellig Star in Caherciveen have tested positive for Covid-19.

Charlie Flanagan says he's sorry for its opening in March without proper consultation with the community. But he says he simply had no choice because of a big shortage of accommodation centres.

Local politicians have called for the facility to be closed, but Minister Flanagan says it will remain open.
