New Daily Covid Case Numbers Drop But Concerns Remain

The Chief Medical Officer says the pattern of Covid-19 is still trending upwards, despite a drop in the number of daily cases.

264 new infections were recorded yesterday, along with two further deaths.
The estimated national 14-day incidence of the virus in a number of counties is continuing to rise.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan says the five-day moving average is still going up.

Meanwhile a report by a task force responsible for the rollout will be presented to ministers this morning - which will include large vaccination centres, and how it will be distributed.
It comes as the Health Products Regulatory Authority urges members of the public who have questions about the shot to use reliable sources for their information.
