New Report Highlights Pressure Householders Face With Rising Rents And Energy Costs

A new report shows the number of low-income households spending higher than two-fifths of their income on rent, has doubled.

This report from Social Justice Ireland has found the number of low income households which are using more than 40% of their disposable income on rent rose to 9.4% in 2019.

This compares to 4.2% just three years previously.

Meanwhile the Housing Charity Threshold says the issue of rent increases has intensified for the last 8 years.

Social Justice Ireland says the household costs are leaving families short of cash for other necessities such as food, clothes and childcare.
