New Restrictions Come Into Force In The North

The PSNI are able to force people to return to their homes in Northern Ireland from today.

New stay-at-home laws took effect at midnight - and people can only leave their houses for medical or food needs, exercise and essential work. Gatherings are now capped at six people, down from 15 previously.

Covid-19 lockdown restrictions are going to be strengthened, in some areas of Wales.

First Minister Mark Drakeford says the current rules won't be lifted - reminding people they need to stay at home. Schools might stay shut until the February mid-term, unless there's a significant drop in cases.
