NPHET Considers How Some Restrictions Could Be Eased

The National Public Health Emergency Team meets this morning to consider how any Covid-19 restrictions MIGHT be eased from next month.

A further 77 people have lost their lives from Covid-19, bringing the country’s death toll to 687.
401 new cases have been diagnosed, with the total number of confirmed cases in Ireland now standing at 15,652.
Chief medical officer Tony Holohan says this morning's meeting will look at how relaxing any measures would work.

Meanwhile The health watchdog will today publish new guidelines for nursing homes to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
Nursing homes account for almost half of the Republic's deaths from Covid-19.
According to The Irish Times, one in five residents in care homes who are believed to have died from the virus, were never tested.
