NPHET Says Daily Rise in Diagnosed Cases Of Covid-19 A Cause For Concern

The National Public Health Emergency Team has warned that Ireland is slipping backwards in its fight to control Covid-19.

21 further cases of the virus have been confirmed, bringing the total to 25,698, while the death toll now stands at 1,749, after another death was recorded. Acting Chief Medical Officer Ronan Glynn says given the increase in diagnosed cases in recent weeks,  the future is unclear.

Meanwhile the HSE's warning hospital services won't be able to cope if there's a second wave of Covid-19 during the winter flu season.
Its Chief clinical officer says the combination would be a disaster:
