NPHET Says Fight Against Covid-19 Moving In The Right Direction

The positivity rate for Covid-19 tests in the community has fallen by nearly 20 per cent over the past month, according to the National Public health Emergency Team.

The number of people with the virus in public hospitals fell to 1,239 last night - the lowest level since January 8th, while those in ICUs dropped to 187. 75 additional deaths and 1,318 new cases were confirmed yesterday.
Professor Philip Nolan, who chairs NPHET's modelling group, says the country is still on course to be down to 200 to 400 cases a day by the end of the month.
Meanwhile it’s being claimed 50 per cent of people with symptoms of Covid-19 are waiting up to three days before they contact a GP. Deputy chief medical officer, Dr Ronan Glynn, says a clear pattern has emerged recently, which is a cause for concern.
