Part Of Dún Laoghaire Main Street Goes Pedestrianised

Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is going to pedestrianise part  of the main street in Dún Laoghaire next month on a three month trial, following strong public support for the proposal.

Traffic will be banned from Lower George’s Street from Marine road to a newly-created pedestrian plaza, Myrtle Square.

The closure will run from the 5th of July until September 30th, to facilitate outdoor dining, markets and cultural events.

The council says more than 1,000 people took part in a public consultation process with 70 per cent in favour of the plan.
