The Tanaiste is coming under pressure amid claims he was tested for Covid-19 and received his results in two days, while most people are facing more than two weeks for theirs.
According to the Irish Independent, Sinn Fein Leader Mary Lou McDonald waited 16 days for her results, while the son of the leader of the Green party had to wait 35 days for his test results.
It’s also claimed thatSimon Coveney was contacted by the Keeling fruit company in North Dublin, before they brought in 189 seasonal workers from Bulgaria after lockdown measures were introduced here, sparking controversy over how strict the rules were being applied.
Meanwhile there have been reports of divisions between senior health officials and the government over the best way to ease coronavirus restrictions. Both sides have denied any tension.
