Transport Union Says Garda Taskforce Needed To Stop Antisocial Behaviour On Public Transport

A dedicated Garda taskforce is needed to clamp down on antisocial behaviour on public transport.

That's according to the National Bus and Rail Union, which is responding to a recent viral video that shows a woman falling on to the tracks at Howth Junction Station, after her path was blocked by a teenager and his bike.

Gardai have launched an investigation into the situation captured on the viral video.

General Secretary of the NRBU Dermot O'Leary says private security forces don't have the power to put an end to this type of behaviour.

Meanwhile, Rail Users Ireland is calling for more CCTV footage to be made publicly available, to help gardaí identify people engaged in anti-social behaviour.

Mark Gleeson from Rail Users Ireland says footage of these crimes should be utilised more.
