On this evening's Sunday Show we are off to Cork for a special programme focusing on the upcoming Cork on a Fork Festival — a five-day celebration of Cork’s vibrant food scene, passionate producers, and culinary creativity. From tasting trails and street feasts to chef collaborations and family fun. We chat to Elmarie McCarthy the Tourism Officer with Cork City Council, Pamela Kelly from Farmgate Restaurant and Orla McAndrew from Orla McAndrew FoodNearly 100 events will take place across the city, offering everything from exclusive chef collabs and pop-up dinners in unexpected locations to street feasts, food trails, and tasting tours. Emmet Place will be buzzing all weekend with free cooking demos from well-known chefs, bite-sized talks, and a local food market. Add to that a full family-friendly programme and hands-on workshops, and there’s something to suit all ages and palates. A Special Harvest Feast Dinner at Glenbrook Farm with Pamela Kelly
On Wednesday August 14th. This exclusive event takes place at Glenbrook Farm, Whites Cross and will be catered by Pamela Kelly, the acclaimed head chef at The Farmgate Café in The English Market, who is renowned for her dedication to crafting menus from seasonal and locally sourced produce.
The unique dining experience will take place in a rustic calf shed on the farm, with all ingredients sourced directly from Glenbrook Farm, epitomising a farm to fork and zero food miles dining experience. Chef Pamela Kelly will create a sumptuous six course menu showcasing the best of the season’s harvest. With all the salads and veg being picked just hours before being served, it ensures the utmost freshness, flavour, and sustainability. English Market Cooking Demo with Cork Chef Orla McAndrew
1.00pm - 2.00pm, Saturday 16th August, Outside the English Market on Grand Parade
Award-winning Cork Chef Orla McAndrew will indulge visitors to the English Market with a cookery demonstration and sampling outside the building on Grand Parade. Committed to sustainability and a 'zero-waste ethos' Orla will be using a range of fresh, local ingredients from the stalls of the renowned English Market to create seasonal tasting and sharing plates - perfect for summer gatherings.
