Travel Talk with Ed Finn
Saturday, 28 March 2026 - 7 minutes
Gavin McKenna, Head of Marketing, Digital & Communications at Visit Belfast, was in Dublin recently to brief the Irish media on Belfast’s big year ahead in 2026, highlighting what’s being called the city’s Three F’s — Fashion, Food and the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. The city is expecting an incredible 800,000 visitors from August 2nd–9th as Belfast hosts the Fleadh for the very first time, bringing the very best of Irish music, culture and entertainment to venues and streets right across the city. To help visitors plan their trip, a dedicated Fleadh website has been created with accommodation, event and travel information, reflecting the scale of what will be one of the biggest events ever hosted in Belfast. The Visit Belfast team have also been recognised for their digital innovation, with Gavin and the team winning a major award at the Spider Awards for their work on the new Visit Belfast website and digital strategy. In this episode of Travel Talk, Gavin tells us why 2026 is the perfect year to visit Belfast, what visitors can expect during Fleadh week, and why Belfast’s food, fashion, music and culture scene is making it one of Europe’s most exciting city break destinations right now.
